This program is designed for those who may have violent tendencies, but have not progressed to the point of using a weapon.  It is also excellent for those who have been arrested for any form of non-domestic assault/battery, resisting arrest, non-violent resisting arrest, stalking, verbal abuse, emotional abuse and physical abuse (non-sexual).  Others who may benefit are those who lack self-control, or who have been involved in personal injury or in the destruction of property. Negative influences such as peer & family pressures are examined.  Other common pitfalls such as drugs & alcohol, procrastination and rationalizations are also examined to see how they affect decision-making skills. 

Content is based on the premise that violence is never acceptable and that any lasting solution to a problem must be achieved through negotiation and compromise.

Individuals learn key skills and coping strategies in such areas as expressing strong feelings, dealing with family responsibilities, managing interpersonal relationships, abusing alcohol and drugs, and managing stress.  Issues of self control and control of others is also examined.  Discussions focus on how to avoid difficult situations, button pushers, negative influences, etc.

The ACF Anger Management program also gives offenders the opportunity to learn and practice skills that will allow them to effectively manage their emotions, and encourages them to positively control their behavior and the events in their lives.

Anger can alter our moods, and our behavior. Individuals who have learned to successfully control their emotions and channel their energies in a positive direction hold the secret to success.


During the Crossroads Assault workshop, participants will:

1. Understand why people use violence.

2. Recognize  control issues, effects of alcohol and drugs, negative emotions. 

3. Learn how to communicate more effectively with their piers, partners and children. 

4. Gain better self-control, understanding the relationship between adrenalin and anger outbursts. 

5. Understand how anger negatively effects relationships, work, family and circle of friends.

6. Set and attain worthwhile goals to avoid anger episodes.

7. Learn to walk away from confrontations.
